Marbles

Focus Near . . .

Focus Far . . .
These marbles belong to my dh, he collected them as a child. I love all the colors, but not really happy with the shadows and lighting here. I may get out my macro lens and try these shots again. Canon 40D Aperture priority, SS 1/30 and 1/40 (w/tripod), f5.0, ISO 100, FL 38mm. Adjusted levels in PSCS2, forgot to smart sharpen, so no sharpening here.

I like the colors and the white background. I was thinking of taking a picture of some marbles the other day. Maybe tomorrow. You've inspired me!

This is really fun. The colors are great and I love the random-ness of the marbles. Very cute!

Oh, this is great! You asked about the white backgrounds. I try to set my white balance by doing it custom. I also meter +1 over 0 most of the time. IF that does not work, I can use the screen layer and then, the eyedropper tool to get white. Hope that helps.

If you do another shot of the marbles with your macro, could you post it? I don't exactly know what macros do. . . are they primes with small number f settings? I'd love to see the difference if you do it. . . .

Fun focus play but I love the shadows. I think it adds to the picture! They aren't harsh shadows gotten from using a harsh flash...but are soft shadows that occurred naturally....me likey ;)

I love the composition of the shots. Adding marbles to my list of things to macro shoot!

I like that you showed near and far differences. Nice color

These are some great shots. The simplicity of the background helps to not distract from the marbles. I also like both views, with the focus on the back and the front. I disagree with you though, I like the shadows, in fact I would like to see them more pronounced.

This brings back memories. I used to have a huge collection of marbles as a kid. Love how you changed the focus on the two shots.
