The Cup

I went out to lunch with some friends on Saturday. We went to a neighborhood cafe, "the Cup" that serves organic tea and coffee, sandwiches and salads. I had a ham sandwich on grilled ciabata bread and a salad sprinkled with dried cranberries - and to drink - wild blueberry iced tea. A very yummy meal and it was so nice to catch up with friends. With inspiration from Lorrie, I took my camera in the cafe. There were a couple of guys playing the guitar and a few people with their laptops, so no one even thought twice about my picture taking. I think I'll take it with me more often!

I took a few pics with the macro lens I rented. I don't really like the comp of this one and there's some shadow but I'm going to practice more today before I have to take it back tomorrow.

Yummy! That sandwich looks good and I just ate!
Looks like you're doing a great job with that macro lens! I've been thinking of buying one but I haven't quite talked myself into it...

Good for you for being brave! I need to be more gutsy like that more often!

Oh wow...wish I could go to the Cup, sounds so amazing!

Macros are fun, yet very challenging. I would encourage you to take it out of AF and go into MF if your eyes can take it...so much easier to get that sharp focus IMO.

Hi Robin,
I'm finally making my 'rounds' and I'm checking out all of your shots. This is what I'm seeing.

Your compositions are good in all of them. Nice focus and good clarity. Good job there. I see that they seem a bit foggy...are you doing a USM/Defog before posting? Maybe that would help.
And one thing I noticed about most of them is the level at which you're shooting. Most of them seem to be a bit above eye level, thus creating a very similar shot every single time KWIM? Not that it's bad or anything, just something that I'm noticing.
I like the "cup" shot, though I think your focus is a bit off...maybe it's just soft in my computer.
The Tabasco sauce looks great to me. Not too much of a tilt. And I'm glad you can appreciate a good picante stuff..maybe I'll make you some hot salsa and send it your way...and you tell me if it's hot enough...BTW I do a lot of "hot" stuff but Tabasco sauce it's just too acidic for me...you gotta try the real thing girl! Oh and your macro shot looks good...I envy you having a store nearby to rent from...lucky girl.
I don't eat much girl scout cookies, even though my brother was troop leader and sold them to me by the bunches...maybe that's why...I always gave them away...

Spagetti is good. I eat it more often than you...plus it's sooo easy to make at a short moment's notice isn't it? I like your last shot best on that day. And I like your plate composition too. Just watch out for the flash as it's reflected on your pot (2nd shot).

I can see why your coworkers say your food is a "work of art" and I agree. I don't like avocado (yes, weird Mexican I know) but I admire you for being able to eat so healthy. For me, it's mostly Whataburgers 3 out of 5 days of the week. No wonder I'm so big nowadays. Oh, and our focus landed right where you wanted it. Great job there. And very impressive with the slow SS. I wouldn't have been able to pull it off since it's sooo slow.

TFS! I'll be back to check out your blog later. And thanks for stopping by my blog during the week. I know I usually take too long to answer but I make it a point to come by.
